|
|
Unit20 are proud to present the Scottish Under 90's Strongest Man 2010 on the 19th June. This will be the first year of 90's in Scotland, and will hopefully be a popular competition, and will also bring out some mini beasts who can go down south and mix it up with the other Brits, as this will be a qualifier for Britain's under 90kg Mightiest Man 2010 in Partnership Elite Strongman Promotions, which is to be held at Olympic Sports Gym in Ashton, Manchester, later in the year.
I know there has been talk up here of lighter categories 'diluting' the sport, but I hope that people make their own decisions as to what class to compete in, and the main aim of the U90's is to create a platform and an even playing field for the naturally lighter guys in the sport, and also attract new faces. As it's a national comp, we've tried to set the weights/events accordingly. Any feedback is welcome though.
Event 1 - Strength Shop sponsored MAX Log Press
Max weight log, last man standing, fail the weight and you're out. Start weight will probably be 80kg and going up in 5s. Using the new wooden log
Event 2 - Ultimate Grip sponsored Farmers Walk
110kg farmers for 40m, turn at 20m. 75 second time limit. Drops are fine.
Event 3 - Unit Supplements sponsored Tyre flip and Loading medley
280 tyre flipped 4 times, followed by 100kg and 117kg stone and 120 keg to 51" platform. 90 second time limit.
Event 4 - John Disher Carpets sponsored Arm over arm - 300kg sled for 15m.
Event 5 - Atlas Stones sponsored Axle Deadlift - 200kg axle deadlift for reps, full range. 75 seconds. No straps. Suits most likely ok as it's a national comp, but to be confirmed.
Hopefully the log, farmers, arm over arm, and axle deads will run head to head. Order of events is yet to be decided but the axle deadlift will be the last event. All events are subject to change.
Will be £15 entry, with t-shirts, trophies for top 3, medals for the rest, and goodies for all. Taking names now just to get an idea of interest/numbers.
Any questions just give me or brian a shout.

Just a shame I am a very long way from 90kg, really like the look of the leading event, the stump and chain will mix things up a bit I am sure. Had there been one of these before I went to the effort of piling on the weight I would have done it.
Neil, you could send your legs to do this one, that would be about right weight wise and you woudn't need to worry about your back |

Historically, Scotland bore the brunt of several Empires including the Swedish, Roman and English Empires respectively trying to wipe oot the backward n infamously angry inhabitants. For each empire this has turned intae a Vietnam situation as Scotland more or less developed guerrilla fighting n ethical Nihilism in these dark years. Walls were even erected tae keep oot the 'Blue Genital Aliens'. Rape tactics were also employed tae genetically wipe the Scots oot. Unfortunately fur the invaders the Scots took these ideas on board and have launched programs to breed oot the planet; this is why most people can trace Scottish ancestry (this is also how Edinbugs ur so fuckin' inbred).
More recently in history more attempts were made to wipe out these surprisingly resourceful people economically, Marge Twatcher used Poll Taxes and stipends to try and starve off this 'wart on top of England' as she put it, but this failed as well. The economic decline throughout the eighties gave birth to the "Scottish Hobos" (Trademark) and all Europe were swarmed by the alcoholic inhabitants.

| Will I reply to this? Hmmm, yes I think I might! We Scots can be proud of never having been conquered, unlike the English who turned over to show their bellies to any invading force! The Romans would be a good example! |

Any chance we can try keep this on topic to the U90kg SSM. First U90 comp in Scotland and I'm sure the promoters would like to keep the thread to relavent issues. _________________ Sponsored By:

Conversely, I wouldn't be following this thread had it not been for Drew's post so swings and roundabouts...
Ken - stop being so serious all the time! |
