To give the novice guys something to shoot for, Unit20 are putting on another Arnolds style novice comp the last Saturday in February. A bit lighter than the one we ran back in 07, it'll basically mimic the arnolds events, but be a fair bit lighter Smile Had a lot of folk wanting to do the first timers, who'd only done one comp or so before, but had to turn them away due to the criteria, so decided to put this on as well. Entry fee £15, t-shirt and trophies/medals for all. All indoors, in the new super fantastic Unit 32 (though we'll still be known as Unit20 gym Smile)

Events;

1 - 90kg axle press with normal diameter bumper plates, floor to overhead, max reps in 2mins - this will run as a head to head. No resting the axle on belts.

2 - Max deadift (normal bar on Landrover tyres) - starting weight 200kg - straps allowed. Rising bar, 3 attempts, 1 fail and out. Head to head. 30 sec limit on each lift.

3 - Yoke - 280kg for 10.8m - 30 second time limit - head to head

4 - Timber frame carry - 260kg for 15m - 30 second time limit

5 - Thick handled DB press - 45kg for reps from shoulder - 90 second time limit. This will run head to head.

Any comments/suggestions welcome, as it's no set in stone yet. Tried to mimic Arnolds as best as possible. Frame carry won't be up a ramp, hence the slightly longer distance. Strictly no sliding with the frame or the yoke.

It's a novice comp, so anyone who is far too strong will be told to beat it. Generally, if you've come top 3 in a novice comp before, again, you'll be told to sling it.

Will try and take as many as possible, but most likely cap it at 15 if it gets to that. Anyone wanting to do this rather than the first timers is welcome to, but obviously if you do this, then you can't still do the first timers.

Comp's now full. Upped it to 16 coz I agreed to take someone who I had forgotten to put down on the list!

Will take reserves, as no doubt few folk will pull out.
