Hi Maca,
I will try and do all the domestics but training is sporadic to say the least!
Work commitments and family have overtaken me a bit. |

Sorry I've not been posting much - just a very hectic period for me the last few months. Hopefully should start to getting things out on a more regular basis from now - though still got lots going on.
I wasn't training much from Nov to Jan, but been back in the gym a bit in Feb, but certainly won't be ready to do anything for the districts. But hopefully I'll do something soon.
If anybody has any questions about current set-up re GBPF I'll do my best to answer. Firstly, there's maca's question:

We still retain our Scottish Powerlifting records going back to the days even before Mr Dastardly. You won't be able to set a GBPF record though in our comps.
I've got to get some information from Alex about the format of single lift - that was really introduced to replace push-pull and make a comp that was more accessible to new lifters, though I can see that it would be really good for the top lifters all battling for the "best squat in scotland" etc. _________________

Here's me thinking the scottish powerlifting had just broken away from the gbpf and it was as simple as just getting gbpf membership if you wanted to compete in a national comp but now I see the gbpf is running seperate comps in scotland.
Maybe I haven't been paying attention lately but this is getting pretty confusing
Does this mean you have to lift in a scottish gbpf comp to qualify for a national comp?
Do both feds have (or are trying to get) IPF affiliation? |

Not the best situation I know - but done purely with the best interest of our lifters in mind.
Scottish Powerlifting is not part of GBPF. GBPF set up their Scottish division to be the only way to qualify for GBPF comps. Though it seems they only have one competition scheduled, so it is an expensive comp at £60.
We have lots of comps and have the freedom to set our own fees, so we can do things like give people the option of a low-cost one-comp membership - just to try powerlifting out.
Were you planning on doing a comp this year ? And a British ?
We are seeking IPF affiliation, which will not be easy. But there is a precedent set with the Weightlifters who have both British and a separate Scottish affiliation to IWF. So it can be done. _________________

Thanks Andy, that's clarified things a lot.
I'm hoping to do the unequipped in July.
I know there's the single lifts coming up which is good for novices like myself but I've only just got my training back on track again and have to shed a good bit of excess weight too (as you'll see from my facebook status ).
I don't have any intention of entering a british comp obviously but thought I'd mention it in the thread for the benefit of others.
I see the gbpf comp is on the same day as the single lifts too eh? Hmm...
I would imagine the IPF would have a hard time denying affiliation to Scottish Powerlifting when they are abiding by IPF rules with IPF qualified refs. |

Well I can assure you that our date was published (which includes circulating to the GBPF Scotland Division) well in advance of their date being set. Read into that what you like .... but I don't view it as being very helpful for anybody. _________________

Doh - I'm not going to be able to make the Open this year due to being away with work over that weekend. Events seem to be conspiring against me lifting.
Though given that I have had one session since the early March that isn't such a bad thing at the moment - I can still bearly walk after doing a some light squats on Monday!! _________________

theres only one thing for it pick a fight with my missus the week before and hope she takes the kids and her mum instead |
