|
We are the only organisation to have a full and well defined calendar of powerlifting events in Scotland, so please spend your membership money wisely.
- 21st March, Scottish Districts, Glasgow Palace of Arts
- 25th April, Single Lift Champs, Venice Gym, Glasgow
- 6th June, Scottish Open, Glasgow Palace of Arts
- 25th July, Scottish Unequipped, Glasgow Palace of Arts
- 12th Sept, Scottish Seniors, Kilmarnock Note: Change of date
- 31st Oct, Scottish Juniors & Bench (equipped and unequipped), Venice Gym, Glasgow
- 5th Dec, Scottish Masters, Mastrick, Aberdeen
Some of these dates are subject to confirmation with venues.
I'll post more detailed info, results etc on here as I get it _________________

Hi Andy, just a question regarding the Scottish Juniors. Is it neccessary to compete at the districts like a qualifier or can you enter regardless.
Thanks, Nick |

Nick,
The only comp we run with a qualification criteria is the Scottish Seniors (you will have to have lifted at either the Districts or Open) - all of the others have no restrictions about who can enter, other than age categories for Juniors/Masters.
If anybody is just starting out then it is good to get as many comps under the belt as possible - just to get used the way comps work and the refereeing. So even if you aren't eligible for a particular comp (e.g. on age grounds), you can always ask to guest lift.

| Thanks for that Andy. The provisional date for the juniors is ideal for me so I will most probably give that a bash. |

Please note there has been a change of venue for Scottish Open on 6th June - it will now be at the Palace of Arts in Glasgow.
I should be getting the entry forms to circulate soon. _________________

Any idea where I can get the entry forms for this:
25th July, Scottish Unequipped, Glasgow Palace of Arts
I think I was given one at the last meet but it seems to have gone walkabout.... _________________ New. Very new. Like new shoes that haven`t even been worn yet. |

Mark, we haven't issued that one yet - I'll post it on here and email it to my mailing list as soon as I get it. We aim to send them out 8 weeks before a comp - any earlier and people forget.

Andy,
I heard a rumour that knee wraps are to be allowed for the unequipped. Is this the case? I personally hope not as it's then not an unequipped comp.

No, knee wraps not allowed, unequipped as per normal rules.
Somebody may have gotten mixed up with single lift champs, where Alex wanted to see if having it knee wraps only opened up that lift to some extra people. _________________

Thanks for that - that's a relief - if they had been allowed I wouldn't have been competing. Means I might just do 2 comps this year now...

Please note that the date for the Scottish Seniors has been changed to 12th September. It is still being hosted by Kilmarnock Weightliftng Club at their club in Shortless Community Centre. _________________
